On October 1st, 2024, the Association of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda (AMIR) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Rwanda formalized a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to enhance the professional capacity within Rwanda’s microfinance sector by offering specialized training programs for internal auditors, risk managers, and compliance officers.

He emphasized that the initiative would provide essential skills and knowledge to professionals, thereby strengthening the sector’s overall performance.

Mr. Jackson Kwikiriza, Executive Director of AMIR, noted that this MoU is part of a broader effort to professionalize the microfinance sector. “The professionalization of the microfinance sector is our primary goal at AMIR, and we are committed to continually improving it,” he stated.
Through this MoU, AMIR members will gain access to international certifications, audit training, and risk management programs, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet global standards. This partnership marks a significant step towards elevating the standards and effectiveness of microfinance institutions in Rwanda.
