The agreement was officially signed today by Mr. Jackson Kwikiriza, Executive Director of AMIR, and Prof. Jean NGAMIJE, Vice Chancellor of UNILAK.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Christine K. Umumararungu, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management at UNILAK, Dr. Martin Nsanzumukiza, Director of Research at UNILAK, Jean Nzakamwita, Capacity Building Specialist at AMIR, and Jean Paul Niyonshuti, Communication and Public Relations Specialist at AMIR.

The MoU outlines key areas of collaboration between AMIR and UNILAK, including identifying skills gaps in the cooperative sector and developing relevant training materials. The institutions will also co-organize conferences, workshops, and seminars to provide valuable knowledge to those in cooperative management.

A major focus of the partnership is the development of research projects and consultancies to enhance the capacity of cooperatives. Additionally, the two parties will align UNILAK’s Cooperative Management curriculum with market demands, ensuring that students are prepared for the sector’s evolving needs.

The MoU also highlights the commitment to providing internship and employment opportunities for UNILAK students and graduates, offering practical experience and supporting the growth of Rwanda’s cooperative movement.

Both institutions are dedicated to ensuring the success of this partnership, which will contribute to a more robust and sustainable cooperative sector in Rwanda.
