AMIR Welcomes U.S. Financial Education Experts to Strengthen Ties and Advance Financial Inclusion in Rwanda

The Executive Director of AMIR, Mr. Jackson Kwikiriza, welcomed Mr. Earl Cox, Publisher and President of TheMoneyCoach.net LLC, along with Ms. Lynnette Khalfani-Cox, CEO of TheMoneyCoach.net, a financial education company based in Houston, Texas.

The organization is dedicated to empowering Americans with the knowledge and tools needed to manage their finances wisely for both present needs and future security.

The visit was part of a learning mission, as Mr. Cox and Mrs. Khalfani-Cox sought to gain insights from AMIR’s extensive experience in supporting the microfinance sector in Rwanda and advancing financial inclusion throughout the country.

During the meeting, Mr. Jackson Kwikiriza provided an overview of the evolution of Rwanda’s microfinance sector, highlighting its significant progress over the years. He highlighted that Rwanda has achieved an impressive 96% financial inclusion rate, according to the 2024 FinScope Survey, a testament to the country’s commitment to accessible and inclusive financial services.

The discussion also explored potential avenues for collaboration between AMIR and The Money Coach, with a shared goal of promoting financial education and enhancing financial literacy both in Rwanda and beyond. Mr. and Mrs. Cox shared examples of past client work, and ideas for how they could support AMIR’s priorities regarding capacity building and upskilling employees working in the financial sector, as well as aiding AMIR’s efforts to expand the use of digital financial products and services to various segments in Rwanda, such as students, women, and current or aspiring entrepreneurs.

Mr. Kwikiriza emphasized Rwanda’s appeal as a flourishing, secure, and investor-friendly nation, underscoring the vast opportunities available for international organizations and businesses looking to make a meaningful impact.
