AMIR’S 15th ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY

AMIR organized and conducted a 15th General Assembly for its members On Friday 08th December 2023 at RICEM Kabusunzu in Kigali City, Nyarugenge District, Nyakabanda Sector, where 305 members and 11 invited stakeholders participated in the meeting. 

During this general assembly, two SACCOs MATIMBA Vision SACCO from Nyagatare district and URUMURI SACCO from Gatsibo district both based in Eastern province were approved as new AMIR Members. 

Various recommendations were given to AMIR Members by partners who attended the meeting; members were encouraged to continue supporting their association in different interventions to allow AMIR  fulfill its responsibilities of serving its members. 

Stakeholders including NBR (Central Bank), the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, development partners, and other stakeholders were recognized for their valuable contributions to the development of the microfinance sector. They were requested to continue supporting Microfinance Institutions to operate well and professionally. 

In his remarks, the AMIR Executive Director said that AMIR will continue collaborating with stakeholders to promote access to finance through the implementation of different projects. Going forward, together with partners they will support MFIs/SACCOs to develop products tailored to the needs of different categories of Rwandans including youth, women, people with disabilities, and refugees. These interventions will enable AMIR support Rwandans to create employment and improve their well-being.
