The Associations of Microfinance Institutions in Rwanda (AMIR), in collaboration with the African Management Institute (AMI), successfully concluded a two-day training session for SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative) Managers and Youth Growth Guides. The event, which took place as part of the ongoing Kataza Program, saw over 250 participants from 15 districts gather to enhance their skills in supporting youth-owned Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
The training program aimed to strengthen the capacity of Youth Growth Guides, individuals who play a pivotal role in raising awareness about financial opportunities for youth-owned businesses. These guides will be instrumental in empowering youth entrepreneurs by helping them navigate financial systems, particularly the offerings of SACCOs and Microfinance Institutions (MFIs).
During the sessions, participants delved into the various challenges that youth-led MSMEs face and discussed strategies to mitigate these obstacles. The training placed a strong emphasis on identifying and harnessing opportunities available within SACCOs and MFIs, which are crucial for driving the growth of MSMEs.
A key focus was on equipping participants with essential knowledge regarding financing options, particularly the loan products available under the Kataza Program. This program is designed to support MSMEs with the necessary resources to foster sustainable growth.
By the end of the training, the Youth Growth Guides were well-prepared to assist youth-led businesses in accessing the financial tools and guidance they need to succeed and thrive.
